I just finished all 4 Superior mysteries. Wow! Each one held surprises and each one was both delightful and challenging. Your writing rises to the level of Bunn Davis and others in terms of mysteries and the tension of the build-up of the story. And you do all the things you promised in your introduction, including not being “preachy.” Not that I mind a good sermon–I hear one every week in my own fellowship.
I appreciate the last novel for a variety of reasons and was not put off by the topic. In fact, I just completed a course called “Safeguarding God’s Children,” sponsored by the Episcopal Diocese of Texas, on the subject of sexual abuse and its prevention. I work with a charity called Days for Girls Int’l, which provides teaching and menstrual hygiene kits for girls in developing nations, to help them get through school (not missing school due to their monthly cycles), so they can obtain jobs and earn a decent living rather than be forced into prostitution, early marriage, and sex slavery. So the topic of that book is dear to my heart and I appreciate the way you handled it in the book.
    God bless you!
And now I’m off to hunt down some of your other books.

Thanks, Helen. Sex-slavery is an important topic. I’m encouraged that so many people are taking it seriously. I was glad to do my little part. Thanks so much for reading!

    Hey Tom,
It seems like years since I finished “Superior Getaway”!
Anxious for your next installment. Your writing style makes a book hard to put down therefore I need more!
I’m sure books don’t write themselves and you’re apparently involved in ministry, how do you find the time?
Thanks for the Superior series I hope they never end!

      Thanks Steve.
I’ve been struggling with chronic pain for the past several years, and I have other responsibilities besides writing. But I AM actively writing the fifth installment. In my mind, there are many more adventures for Jonah and the gang. I appreciate the encouragement.

  5. I just finished reading Tom’s, “Who Cares About the Bible?”. What a great summary on “where it came from, how to understand it, and why it matters”. Even after having read the complete Bible many times, Tom explains things in a very comprehendible way. I enjoyed reading about the origins of the Old and the New Testament, as well as the various genres that one needs to account for when reading the Bible.Perhaps my favorite chapter was “A Wonderful Book”, where Tom expounds on many practical reasons for caring about the Bible. Thanks again Tom for your scholarly work; I will definitely use this in my practice.

Have read all 4 of the Lake Superior Novels. Wish there were more. So get your b.. uh rear in gear and let us thrill to the adventures of Pastor Jonah. Well, as soon as you are physically able. This Texas man can hardly wait! God bless you and your work.

  7. Have all five Lake Superior adventures bought, read and on the keeper shelf in my library. Anxiously awaiting number six! I have given them to my pastor’s wife to read and she also loves them. She says Jonah reminds her of her husband, especially when it comes to coffee (we both love hot black coffee, probably why we get along so well). Keeping your health concerns in my prayers. Have a great day and keep on writing.
